“And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself…’”
(Matthew 22:37-40 ESV)
We love God by loving people. And we honor God’s sovereign plan by loving those people he’s placed around us – or to use more biblical language, those people to whom he sent us. Your neighborhood, workplace, and school are your mission fields. The call to love, serve, pray for, and bless the folks in your mission field is not an option – Jesus calls it the greatest commandment!
So several times each year, in our “last-Sunday-of-each-month Scattered worship,” The City Church loves God by loving our neighbors. Invite folks from work into your home; throw a block party; organize a neighborhood clean-up; set up a grill in the yard and have folks over for a BBQ… Whatever you want. But worship God well by loving your neighbors
