Come to this SERVE day and help us revitalize our Samules Avenue Building. This space is to be used for mission and outreach to the community. If you are following along with our website and events, we have our first outreach planned for the neighborhood on April 16. We want to transform the space to be ready for this event.

Mandy Damon is the chair for this project. So, reach out to her with specific questions and needs. Or, if you have a suggestion, then let her know. We would love to hear.

Here is what we will do that day: (We will be there from 9 – 6, but even if you can only stay a couple of hours, that is great. Don’t think you have to stay the whole day.)

  • Remove items and setup a “yard sale” for the neighborhood.
  • Clean up the rooms and rearrange the fixtures.
  • Painting the walls, etc
  • Fixing up the restrooms
  • Putting in new stuff
  • And much more

Last note. We would love for the space to be more like a home as the buidling will be a host site for Villages. So, if anyone has a counch or lounge chair or other item you might think will work and are willing to donate to the cause, let Mandy know and she can see if it works.

Thanks for being willing to SERVE and for helping us prepare this space for mission.

Looking forward to it. Thanks for giving up a Saturday to prep a place to be a great location for its neighbors and for our church family to use as well. As we’ve talked about, living on mission involves living out the gospel in everyday relationships, not painting/renovating. So how does this SERVE fit our vision? It is creating a space in a neighborhood for be a ‘hub’ for our mission in that area. So in that sense, it’s a “pre-SERVE”; or a Saturday to set up a space for future SERVE & mission in that neighborhood. See you there!

Sorry guys. We committed to a church thing in my home town that weekend.

I’m flying in from San Jose that day and not positive what time I’ll be back. If I can make it I will! Mandy – if you find that you still need volunteers, I’m happy to post this opportunity through the Volunteer Center and specifically through Youth Volunteer Corps, which I manage. I have a couple of student groups I work with that would be interested in helping. Let me know! jwallace@vcnt.org or 817.521.7398
